Who we are? The Communist Forum of Shetland or Communist Cairdin o Shaetlan (CCS) in Shetlandic language, is a political party, and carries forward the programme and objectives of the British Communists as founded in 1920, and of Shetlandish autonomists as founded in 1980. Its aim is an " autonomist Shetland Islands within a Socialist Britain in which the means of production, distribution and exchange will be socially owned and used in a planned way for the benefit of all". The Communist Forum of Shetland´s Committee is responsible for developing policy specific to Shetland. It campaigns in Shetland for the wider objectives of the party as set out in its programme Shetland’s Road to Socialism. Our party calls for greater powers autonomy of economic and industrial intervention for the Shetlandish Asembly as a way of strengthening the hand of working people in Shetland and across Britain. the peoples of England, Scotland and Wales. Shetlandish Communists The Party seeks to involve members in working collectively where they live, where they work or in areas of interest. The party has members active in trade unions, tenants associations and community councils, the pensioners movement, the women’s movement, the peace movement, anti-racist and solidarity organisations and campaigns to defend democracy. The Central Committee of the CCS is elected by a Congress every two years. Our President is the comrade Charles Engels.
